It appears that New England Patriots tight end?Rob Gronkowski is gone for the foreseeable future. According to NFL Network?s Ian Rapoport, the dynamic pass catcher has a broken forearm that will keep him sidelined for 4 to 6 weeks.
That hurts an already thin tight end spot for New England with?Aaron Hernandez having missed the last several weeks (including Sunday?s win over Indianapolis) with an ankle injury. Next on the depth chart are?Daniel Fells and?Michael?Hoomanawanui, although in similar tight spot earlier this season, the Patriots added?Kellen Winslow, Jr.?? then released him a week later.
If Hernandez is ready to go, he will be the obvious tight end target for?Tom Brady. That would be good news with the Patriots visiting the Jets in Week 12. Gang Green is allowing nearly 10 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends at home. In the event Hernandez once again won?t play, it?s hard to recommend any of New England?s other options at the position.
