Marina Del Rey Wedding at the California Yacht Club from Agape Planning

Show me a nautical wedding, and I?ll show you one happy little wedding blogger. Show me a nautical wedding executed like this beauty captured by?onelove photography,?and consider me thrilled. It?s all that I love about shoreline soirees with a splash of elegance, which ultimately leads me to one full gallery I just simply couldn?t adore more. See it all here!

From the Bride? Our story begins when we started school together at 12 years old. However, his bad boy spirit and my goodie two shoes persona prevented us from ever really meeting or talking over the next six years of schooling.? Fifteen years later, after a few chance encounters, my now-husband and I met at a birthday party and were attracted to each others? giving spirit (he is a firefighter and I am a social worker), similar family values and adventurous spirits.?

Aaron was taught to sail by his grandfather when he was a young boy, so picking the California Yacht Club as our venue fit his passion for sailing and our love for adventure. The inspiration to our day was easy once we picked our location. While we wanted the nautical theme to be present throughout, we didn?t want it to look over the top. Our navy, silver and white colors were scattered throughout to bring a cohesive look and a subtle nautical theme. We also wanted to have our hand in many of the little details throughout the day. My husband and I spent hours doing DIY projects for our big day. It meant a lot to us to have items that were one of a kind and showed our ability to work together as a team. We built and put together our chuppah (including the planter boxes), table numbers, menus, invitations, programs, chair signs and place card tray. As for some of the other details, I wanted to support small artist by buying unique items from Etsy.

My husband is a firefighter for LA City, so we wanted to incorporate that into our wedding by having a firefighter wedding topper. Ginger Babies on Etsy made the PERFECT topper, she even included our dog, Daisy! I forgot, however, to inform our amazing day of wedding planner Ashley Powell from Agape Planning about one tradition. LA City firefighters core a hole in the bridal cake as a way to welcome the bride into the firefighter family. When Ashley saw the hole in the cake, she freaked out, thinking that a bird ate some of our cake and that she needed to fix it before we saw. Ashley told me that all weddings are memorable, but she will NEVER forget this new tradition.

We couldn?t have been happier with the way our wedding day came together. All of the hard work and planning made our day stress-free, fun and memorable. I look at our wedding pictures just to relive the day and make sure it wasn?t all a dream?
